The Chicago Blackhawks have placed goaltender Petr Mrazek on injured reserve due to a left groin injury. Mrazek's absence follows a poor performance against Winnipeg, where he was replaced by Arvid Soderblom.
In addition to Mrazek, the team rested several players during practice, including defensemen Alex Vlasic and Alec Martinez, as well as forward Craig Smith. To fill the gaps, the Blackhawks recalled Drew Commesso and Kevin Korchinski from the AHL.
As the Blackhawks prepare for a three-game trip, they will face the New York Rangers next.
