This achievement marks a significant milestone as he became the first athlete to run a half marathon in under 57 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 57:30 set by Ethiopian star Yomif Kejelcha. Kiplimo's victory was decisive, finishing well ahead of his compatriot Geoffrey Kamworor, who completed the race in 58:44. In addition to his record time, Kiplimo also set a world best of 39:47 for 15 kilometers in this event, adding to his accolades.
